Apartment Review
If I could turn back time...

The apartment is nice and big, and the rent is low. The location is great, it's walking distance to triangle square, a Washington Mutual, Trader Joes, and other shopping and entertainment centers, and it's close to the freeway. The landlady never calls you if she needs something, she only puts letters on your door. She is very passive aggressive and "by the book" in a cold, unfriendly way. Parking is under the building and gated, very nice, but one time my neighbor parked in my spot. I called the tow company and they couldn't tow the car because the landlady did not provide us with a paper proving those were our spots. I left the landlady a message and she never got back to me regarding that (not even a note on my door). My roommate's new bike was stolen from inside the gated parking garage. The downstairs neighbor makes noise complaints about me. I have never had noise complaints before and I don't have huge parties or watch loud TV or anything like that. Also, he has never knocked on my door and asked me to be quiet, he has only called the landlady. The next day I'll get a note on my door telling me to quiet down and not clearly specifying what the noise was. My only guess is that he heard me close my windows, which are old and heavy, so I have to slam them. Not my fault. This place is NOT pet friendly, even if you see residents that have cats in their windows, don't be fooled. You have to have some kind of medical clearance to have pets there. I don't know how anyone could have special medical needs for owning a cat, but apparently some people do. Neighbors are loud on Sundays when they watch football, and another neighbor sings really loud right next to his window and the entire complex hears him. They make much more noise than I do yet somehow I am the one getting the "official" noise complaints. Traffic is VERY loud at ALL times because lots of people take the side streets to avoid cops on Newport Blvd. They get pulled over outside my window instead of on the main street. I have to close my window to sleep because of traffic noise, and then it gets stuffy inside and it's hard to sleep. There are constant maintenance inspections and that gets annoying. Guest parking is on the street, and usually there is plenty of parking but they do street sweeping once a week so you have to make sure you and your guests are not parked there at the wrong time. I would not have moved in to begin with considering the traffic noise, nasty downstairs neighbor, and the passive-aggressive landlady. I won't be recommending this place to anyone considering moving in.
