Apartment Review
Be careful about the lease renewal. Don’t get trap

If you are looking for an apartment TO STAY LONGER THAN A YEAR and you have a FAMILY, please keep reading it. It is very important. I have been living in this apartment for a year. I was thinking to stay with a reasonable rent increase or even the same rent whatever I pay now because no change on the market since last year. Unfortunately, I have to move out next month because of high rent increase for renewal. Pine Brook lowers the rent for new tenants then, after lease expires, they increase the rent dramatically. Here is what happened to me… They gave me a new offer for next year with a huge rent increase. Then I start searching for a new apartment on the internet. I found their advertisement posted on the craigslist.com. Pine Brook Village puts adds in Craigslist for the exactly the same apartment with lower rent that we pay right now but they ask us to pay higher. When I talked to the manager, first she said that the market is higher than last year. However, I am in the market and everybody knows very well this is not a case. When marketing excuse did not work and I showed to the manager their advertisement on the Craigslist, she said that apartment was smaller than ours but I showed her it was the exactly the same apartment as ours. Then, she could not find anything else other than asking us to accept the offer with high increase or move out. I think that their philosophy is to get you in first with a reasonable price then push you to accept new rent increase. My suggestion is that don’t move to this apartment if you are planning to stay more than a year because either you will move after a year or you have to pay a very big amount of monthly rental payment.
