Apartment Review for The Lakes At South Coast - Costa Mesa, CA

My wife and I stayed here for 6 months, of which over 3 months we were traveling. We did not have any kids, pets or parties during that time. Upon moving out I was charged over $250 (this was taken from my deposit) for stuff like cleaning, painting and carpet shampooing. My wife and I thoroughly cleaned the place before leaving and it was in better shape than when we moved in. There was absolutely no need at all for any sort of cleaning. Even if they needed to clean the place, the amount is highly inflated for a 1 bedroom apartment! When I refused to pay they threatened to charge me rent for 6 months!! I finally agreed to pay and wanted to see the invoices of charges they supposedly incurred and they ended up sending fake invoices which were dated about a month later than they were harassing me for it. The facilities at 3400 are great, but its unlikely you will get to use them most of the time as its over-crowded. You will not get to spend some quiet time by the pool as there is blaring music from the near by BBQ areas. Gym is equipped but dont step in after work unless you want to wait in line to use the machines you want. Apartment is nice but the street noise just outside your bedroom is unbearable most of the time. Especially since the complex is almost next to the fire department. You will hear the loud siren blowing off even in the middle of the night. The walls are quite thin as you even hear the neighbours televisions, conversations etc. This is really not the place to have some peace and quiet. Parking is a total mess at this place. Even your own allocated spot will not be available when you want to park your car. The security will do nothing about it to remove the other vehicle. Dont even bother asking your visitors to find parking, as there are only a handful for the entire complex! They will make a great first impression. All of the issues mentioned above, we realized after a few days of living there. The attitude of the management is the worst thing about this place. Very rude, unprofessional and dishonest (after you sign the lease)! They know nothing about customer relations. I made a huge mistake by choosing this place.
