Apartment Review for Villa Venetia - Costa Mesa, CA

I initially chose this complex because I got a good rental rate and lots of space. Luckily I only signed an 8 month lease. The Management staff is the worst I have ever seen - very unreliable, rude and just plain unresponsive. Upon move in the apt had not been painted or cleaned and appliances were not in good working condition. I noted all this in my move in checklist and delt with it the best I could (they did fix the appliances after a couple of weeks). Then 2 weeks after I moved out I was surprised to recieve a bill from them stating that I OWED THEM $47 on top of my $500 deposit! They were charging me for repainting an apartment that was never painted before I moved in, removal of furniture (which was a dish TV satelite that was left on the patio and was there when I moved in), cleaning the apt (which was not cleaned when I moved in). Come to find out, the conveniently lost my move in check list and say they have no proof that the apt was in fact that way when I moved in. After a heated arguement with the "new" management I am writing a letter to the property mgt company and will take them to small claims court if I have to. A few other things: There is NO parking whatsoever and towing is constant. The complex is full of partying college kids so you will get no sleep. There are roaches all around the pools at night and the pools are never cleaned (the ducks s**t in them too). Save yourself the headaches and move someplace else!
